It was an evening filled with reflection, laughter, and heartfelt farewells as students of Hawthorne-Scribner High School came together for a special dinner with Holly Hawthorne, Dean Scribner, and Ben (Uncle Ben) before the trio’s return to the United States.
The gathering was more than just a meal – it became a moment to pause and appreciate the profound impact these dear friends have had on the school community. Students shared personal memories and stories, recalling moments of encouragement, kindness, and inspiration that helped shape their journey both inside and outside the classroom.

The relaxed setting allowed for warm conversations, candid photographs, and spontaneous words of thanks that spoke louder than any formal speeches could. “Your presence made our school feel like home,” one student shared quietly, reflecting the feelings of many.
As the evening drew to a close, the goodbyes were tinged with emotion, but also gratitude for the time spent together and the lessons learned. Hawthorne, Scribner, and Ben offered parting words of hope, urging the students to keep striving, stay united, and carry forward the values that have shaped Hawthorne-Scribner High School.
Though they now head back across the ocean, the memories created and the spirit they leave behind will remain a lasting part of the school’s story – a reminder that true impact is measured not by how long someone stays, but by how deeply they touch the hearts of others.
