Why Design Technology Matters
Design Technology at Hawthorne-Scribner High School gives students hands-on experience turning ideas into real, working solutions. Students learn to plan, design, build, and refine projects – developing practical technical skills alongside creativity and problem-solving.
What Students Learn
- Technical Drawing & Design Principles – Planning and representing ideas accurately before building them.
- Practical Construction Skills – Hands-on work with tools and materials to bring designs to life.
- Problem-Solving & Iteration – Testing, evaluating, and improving designs through trial and refinement.
- Creativity & Innovation – Encouraging original thinking in how problems are approached and solved.
- Pathways into Advanced Work – Students with a strong interest in design and fabrication can continue building these skills through our Sangala Innovations Program, including CAD and 3D printing.
Design Technology helps students see that learning is not just theoretical – it is something they can build, test, and improve with their own hands.
