Welcome to the official website of Hawthorne-Scribner High School, Bududa. Founded in 2025, HSHS aims at transforming the rural Bududa through transformative education centered on academic excellence, discipline and character formation. Our motto ‘Educate, Engage, Empor’ is not just a chant. It is lived in our classrooms and in the lives of our students every day. As a school, we believe that education is more than passing exams. It is about raising young men and women who are responsible, innovative and ready to serve our country, Uganda.

At HSHS, we focus on three pillars: academic excellence and skills development, behavior and character, and collaboration and continuous learning. With a dedicated team of teachers and modern learning resources, we prepare our students to excel in national examinations and beyond, nurturing talents not only in academics but also in sports, debate, ICT and vocational skills, because we believe every child has a gift that must be discovered. Through the Sangala Innovation Centre, students gain unique practical skills in STEM and ICT, the key ingredients for the 4th Industrial Revolution. We are equally committed to building leaders of integrity, using our students’ leadership system, guidance and counselling, and teacher mentorship to instill respect, compassion, hard work and service. Finally, through partnerships with US universities such as the University of Virginia and Marymount University, our staff and students develop meaningful collaborations that continually enhance the teaching-learning process.

We owe a word of gratitude and commitment to each of the people who make HSHS possible. To our parents and guardians, thank you for entrusting us with your children; we are partners in their success, and we ask that you stay engaged through our school administrative structures and continue recommending other parents to HSHS. To our students, we say: work hard, be disciplined and kind, for the world needs your ideas, and we urge you to use every opportunity here to grow. To our community, we remain committed to being a school that gives back, through outreach, environmental projects and skills training for the youth. To our sponsors, you are the reason many of our students are smiling today, for without you they would not be in school, and we ask you to continue this support for many more youth, so that together we can transform rural Bududa. And to our funders, we pledge commitment and transparency in ensuring that every penny is put to proper use.

Looking ahead, we plan to construct an additional classroom block and a sports complex, and we invite you to walk this journey with us.
